HE'S the coach hoping to lead the Swans to a grand final win, but yesterday Paul Roos was lightheartedly offered the chance to help save the NSW Government. The former Australian football star was at Parliament House accepting an award for Father of the Year, an annual honour bestowed on a high-profile father.

He and his family went on to the roof for photos, where the Minister for Planning, Frank Sartor, was having a hushed meeting with several people. One called out: "It's Paul Roos! Just who we need. Maybe you can tell us how to win a premiership!"

The father of two sons used his acceptance speech yesterday to issue a "call to arms" to fathers, encouraging them to spend more time with their children. "My message to all father would be go and enjoy what is a wonderful time with your kids," he said.
